DRAKE SIGNEE 4BATZ HITS STUDIO WITH CHRIS BROWN AHEAD OF DEBUT EP

Drake‘s newest OVO signee, viral sensation 4Batz, will seemingly have a Chris Brown feature on his forthcoming debut EP when it arrives next month.

In a post to his Instagram Story on Wednesday (April 17), the “act ii: date @ 8” singer shared a video bopping hard in the studio with CB.

A snippet of a song played in the background as well, giving fans a tiny preview of what to expect.

The newcomer’s EP U Made Me A St4r is due out on May 3, which he reiterated in the video’s caption. It previously had a release date of April 5 but was evidently pushed back.

4Batz is arguably the biggest breakout star of 2024 thanks to his viral hit “act ii: date @ 8,” which cracked the Billboard Hot 100 and has racked up almost 100 million streams on Spotify alone.

In March, the woozy song received a boost from Drake who jumped on the remix, before it was reported that the Dallas native had joined the 6 God’s boutique label.

Batz’s lawyer declined to comment on news his client is headed to the OVO imprint but mentioned that he “made a calculated decision to creatively collaborate with one of the most iconic artists ever.”

The attorney added added: “The positive energy and overall support from Team Drake/OVO was a driving factor in getting this song released. We are grateful for their involvement and are excited to see what the future holds as a result of this epic creative and business move.”

Drake and 4Batz previously linked up in person at one of Drizzy’s performances on his It’s All a Blur — Big as the What Tour?, where they were seen dapping each other up and sharing a conversation during the show.

The rising star also counts Kanye West as a fan, with the Chicago rap icon calling him his favorite new artist in an interview in February.

LIL WAYNE MIGHT HAVE TO TESTIFY IN YOUNG THUG'S ONGOING YSL RICO TRIAL

Lil Wayne might be called to testify in Young Thug‘s ongoing YSL Rico trial in relation to his 2015 tour bus shooting.

According to a report by AllHipHop, Fulton County prosecutors tried to play videos of Weezy speaking about Thug in the courtroom on Wednesday (May 1), but Judge Ural Glanville refused to allow it unless the Young Money rapper testified himself.

“It seems like you all are trying really hard not to call [Lil Wayne] and that’s your choice,” Glanville told D.A. Adriane Love.

“If you don’t call him, my ruling will stand on these particular exhibits that you are trying to introduce.”

The prosecution is looking to use the 2015 shooting against Young Thug, as he reportedly hired affiliate PeeWee Roscoe to carry it out. Roscoe was eventually sentenced to 10 years in prison and 10 years of probation over the matter, but his conviction was overturned in 2018.

While Lil Wayne making it into the courtroom is not guaranteed, the driver of his tour bus at the time, Alvin Lewis, is set to take the stand on Monday (May 6). He previously sued Thug, Birdman and Roscoe over the shooting in 2016.

While videos of Wayne discussing the matter may not make it into evidence, Judge Glanville previously ruled that Fulton County prosecutors will be able to use a long conversation Thug had with authorities in July 2015 amid the tour bus shooting’s investigation.

Thug’s attorneys attempted to have the results of that talk declared inadmissible for the RICO trial – which at the time had not yet started – arguing that the interview with law enforcement violated Thug’s right to counsel and statements he gave “were not voluntarily made.”

Glanville, however, disagreed as he ruled that Thug didn’t actually have a right to counsel in that situation, because even though he was in police custody, he hadn’t been charged in the case the authorities were asking him about.
