Childish Gambino Puts Alleged “Lithonia” Leakers On Blast

Earlier this year, Childish Gambino announced that his final two albums under his moniker are on the way. He went on to deliver a reimagined version of his 2020 LP 3.15.20. in May, Atavista. Now, fans are waiting on Bando Stone in The New World, which he previously said would drop this summer.

Earlier this week, a release date for the project's lead single "Lithonia" was revealed. At the time, it was said that the heavily teased track would arrive on July 2. Unfortunately, however, fans got the news a bit sooner than Childish Gambino would have liked. Recently, the hitmaker took to Instagram Live to share his reaction to the release date getting leaked, blaming streaming platform Audiomack. Needless to say, he wasn't happy about it.

Childish Gambino Addresses New Single Release Date Leak

In a clip from the Live, Childish Gambino explained his frustration, also arguing that leaks like this are part of the reason fans don't get more new music from their favorite artists. "That's another reason why y'all don't get good sh*t. Like, it's just for what? It's like we don't treat... It's not valuable enough like it's just a single... And I know who did it, Audiomack. F*ckin', no soup for you, you're not getting the album now. That's what time I'm on." He ended the stream after that, leaving viewers with several questions.

It remains unclear exactly what this means for the release of "Lithonia," or for the rest of Bando Stone in The New World. With that being said, fans can only hope that this won't impact the rest of the project and that they'll still get to hear the new album this summer. What do you think of Childish Gambino's recent response to his "Lithonia" release date getting leaked earlier this week? Are you looking forward to hearing Bando Stone in The New World? Romy and Oliver Sim reunite with Jamie xx at Glastonbury 2024 set

image

Jamie xx was joined by The xx bandmates Romy and Oliver Sim during his Glastonbury 2024 set.

The trio reunited on the Woodsies Stage yesterday (June 28) when the ‘In Waves’ producer led his set into ‘Waited All Night’, a track off his forthcoming sophomore album that features both Romy and Sim.

They went on to perform Jamie xx’s 2009 rework of Florence + the Machine‘s ‘You’ve Got the Love’, which itself a cover of the classic 1986 house song by The Source and Candi Staton. Before they took their leave, fans also watched Romy and Sims take part in a group hug with Jamie.

Social media users on Twitter/X shared their excitement at the reunion of the indie pop trio, who last performed together as a band in 2018. “That set was unbelievable from Jamie xx,” tweeted X user @L18SDL. “Those who witnessed that at Glastonbury were very lucky.”

Romy is also set to perform a set on the Woodsies Stage on Sunday (June 30).

Towards the end of his set, Jamie xx was also joined by Robyn, who arrived to perform their song ‘Life’.

Both ‘Life’ and ‘Waited All Night’ are taken from ‘In Waves’, the newest album by Jamie xx due for release on September 20.

In March, Romy shared with NME an update about a new album by The xx. “We’ve been in the studio since I last spoke to NME and we’re in the studio again next week, so we’re meeting up regularly,” she told us at the BRITs. “It’s been really good. I think we’ve all spent time apart and it’s healthy to miss each other.”

Jamie xx will host a huge homecoming show at Alexandra Palace in London on September 26 to launch ‘In Waves’. The gig has since sold out, and another date at the same venue has been confirmed for the day before (September 25).
