Social media reacts to Shania Twain set at Glastonbury 2024

Shania Twain has taken over the Pyramid stage at this year’s edition Glastonbury Festival and social media has been reacting to her performance.

The country icon performed the coveted legend’s slot at the annual music bash at Worthy Farm. Previously sharing that she wanted to “borrow” a horse for her performance, Twain arrived with a group of drag queens all holding up toy horses.

There was a massive turnout for her set. Hundreds of thousands made their way to the Pyramid stage to see her play. She opened with her 1997 hit ‘That Don’t Impress Me Much’.

Upon singing the first lines of the track, fans and viewers took to X/Twitter to express their concern over Twain’s singing. “Watching Shania Twain delivering a mediocre performance of That Don’t Impress Me Much at Glastonbury and trying to think of a witty way to tweet my feelings about it,” wrote one user.

However, other fans seemed to enjoy Shania’s performance, with one user writing: “Great set by Shania, very enjoyable.”

Though many were confused about the livestream’s sound during the singer’s set at the music festival, others were in awe of her performance. “Shania Twain looks incredible some dodgy notes here and there but what a performer! So many bangers,” wrote one user.

Another user shared that Twain sounded amazing live and BBC should look into what went on during the live stream. “Anyway in better news, Shania actually sounded amazing live for people who were actually there so bbc need to fire someone asap,” they wrote.

In a three-star review of her Glasto performanceNME shared: “You can’t argue with the songs, her voice or the way her guitarists shred their axes, though. The rumoured Harry Styles appearance obviously doesn’t come off, but there’s enough camp to go around when she hams up it during an acapella section of ‘You’re Still the One’ and her fiddle player absolutely loses it during ‘Any Man of Mine’. By the time she inevitably closes with ‘Man! I Feel Like A Woman!’ and pink flares stream across a field full of cowboys and gals belting it out karaoke-style (“Man’s shirts! Short skirt!”), you’d have to admit she’s revved the crowd up pretty well.”

In other Glastonbury news, Paloma Faith paid tribute to Amy Winehouse with a cover ‘Back To Black’ during her performance at the Pyramid stage. Elsewhere, fans have been sharing their love for Gossip following their eruptive set at Glastonbury – which saw them call out the US government.

Still set to come this weekend at Glastonbury 2024 are performances from SZA, Janelle Monae, The National, Two Door Cinema Club, Avril Lavigne, Justice, Nia Archives, James Blake, Alvvays, Romy and more.

Coldplay‘s electric headlining set on Saturday scored them a four-star reviewLittle Simz‘s Pyramid performance marked her bid as a future headliner, while Camila Cabello turned in a chaotic performance.

Yung Joc Apologizes To Megan Thee Stallion After Publicly Doubting Her

image

Megan Thee Stallion was put through the ringer during her legal battle against Tory Lanez. Many believed that she was making false accusations against the R&B singer. These same people went after her publicly, and predicted that Lanez would prevail. Obviously, that did not happen. Lanez was found guilty and sentenced to ten years in prison for shooting Megan in the foot. Megan Thee Stallion was vindicated, and several people have come forward to issue an apology. Yung Joc is the latest.

Yung Joc went on Streetz Morning Takeover to make his apology official. He told the hosts that he was wrong for doubting Megan Thee Stallion. "I apologize for not supporting you in your moment and believing in the whole situation with you and Tory Lanez," he stated. "I still have questions, 'cause I'm human." The rapper also made reference to the bet. In short, he promised to shave his head if Lanez went to prison. "I think that the moment when I made the bet," he recalled. "Although we did it in a fun kinda way–maybe, just maybe, I was out of line for doing that."

Yung Joc Placed A Bet On Tory Lanez's Guilty Verdict

Yung Joc didn't stop there. The "Buy U A Drank" rapper followed through on the bet, and shaved his head in light of the guilty verdict. "I lost the bet," he told the Morning Takeover hosts. "And somewhere in there, we may have been a little buffoonish. 'Cause I really made a bet that this man was gon' get off, and he didn't. And I lost my hair. I'm sorry, Meg." Yung Joc revealed that he was inspired to make an apology after Shannon Sharpe did the same on his podcast, Club Shay Shay.

Like Yung Joc, Sharpe expressed doubt over Lanez's guilt. He tried to correct his mistake, however, by having Megan Thee Stallion on his podcast on July 2. He cleared the air right in front of her. "I believe the joke wouldn’t been just as funny if I would’ve left you out of it," Sharpe explained. "So for any unwanted attention, harm, shame, embarrassment that I caused you or your family. I wanna say as a man, as I sit here before you, I apologize."
