Daft Punk’s ‘Interstella 5555’ to Screen in 40 Countries for One Night Only

Daft Punk will give the world an early holiday gift on December 12, when their 2003 anime film Interstella 5555: The 5story of the 5ecret 5tar 5system screens in more than 800 theaters in 40 countries around the globe.

Fans of Interstella 5555, created by the French duo and Daft Punk creative director Cédric Hervet in collaboration with Japanese artist Leiji Matsumoto and Japanese animation studio Toei Animation, will know the film is soundtracked by every song on Daft Punk’s 2001 album Discovery, which includes “One More Time,” “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger,” “Digital Love” and 11 other all-time classics.

As the film was cut into individual music videos to become a visual album, it hasn’t been widely screened in its entirety in theaters, until now. As a big time bonus, the day after the screenings Discovery: Interstella 5555 Edition will be released, with 5,555 copies of the album to be released on gold vinyl, along 5,555 numbered CDs and a limited run of black vinyl available worldwide with the original Japanese edition artwork.

The screenings are happening in partnership with Trafalgar Releasing, which specializes in special event cinema distribution and also worked on the 2023 cinematic releases of Taylor Swift‘s The Eras Tour concert film and Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé. Tickets for the Interstella 5555 screenings go on sale November 13.

“We’re excited to bring Daft Punk’s iconic Interstella 5555, now fully remastered in stunning 4K, to cinemas for this one-night-only global event,” Trafalgar Releasing CEO Marc Allenby says in a statement. “This is a rare opportunity to experience the film on the big screen, along with accompanying Daft Punk music videos, and we can’t wait to share it with audiences everywhere.”

Doja Cat Performs In Her Underwear

image

Doja Cat is no stranger to making headlines for her showstopping looks. During one of her latest performances, however, the "Agora Hills" artist didn't wear much of anything at all. In a clip making its rounds online, she's seen onstage in a tiny white bra and matching underwear. Her fit left little to the imagination, and fans can't complain.

The clip arrives shortly after Doja Cat wrapped up her tour in support of Scarlet, which she unveiled in September of last year. She was joined by Ice Spice and Doechii for certain dates and closed the tour out with a performance at the Global Citizen Festival. Doja went viral at the time not only for her performance but for raising awareness about those in need.

Doja Cat Strips Down For Recent Performance

“Right now, millions of men, women and children in Gaza, Ukraine, Sudan, the Congo and all across the world, are suffering. In times like this, it is important to remember that we have the power to bring change, love light and hope to those who need it most,” she explained, according to Billboard. “I join forces with Global Citizen to help people in areas of conflict and crisis, and I know so many of you join me in taking action to earn your tickets to be here tonight. But we can’t stop now."

"Please keep using your voice to help those fleeing violence get the food, shelter and education they need and very, very much deserve," Doja Cat continued. "There is a beauty in strength in all of you who are watching this, and who choose to be here tonight. This is our time to put it into what matters most, and that is life.” What do you think of Doja Cat performing in her underwear?
