Cordae Claims He Doesn't Care About First Week Album Sales

Cordae has claimed that he does not care about first week album sales, just days before the release of his new project The Crossroads.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), the rapper seemed nonplussed about how his forthcoming album would land commercially.

He said: “Want to say this now I don’t give 1 fuck about a first week sale. It’s a very inaccurate way to calculate impact, especially with the current streaming metrics. I seen somebody do 11K first week and then do a ARENA TOUR off the same album. That’s the end of my Ted talk *2nd one.”

Cordae added: “N-ggas said my last project first week numbers wasn’t good and I ended up doing a sold out headline world tour….”

He continued his point: “In the 90/2000s music was consumed by people actually going to the stores and buying albums. When you did 100K first week that meant 100 thousand people went and bought the cd. Now you can have 300,000 people Listening to your album on streaming, and the units Equivalent is 200.”

Cordae concluded by saying: “Whole point is let’s stop making music about numbers and money, it’s killing something that’s so pure.”

Cordae’s first two albums received a muted commercial reception with both projects stalling at number 13 on the Billboard 200.

Neither album topped 25,000 equivalent sales in a week and have yet to receive any certification from the RIAA.

The Crossroads is released on Friday (November 13) and includes features from the likes of Lil WayneKanye WestJuicy J and more.

Weezy appears twice on the project, including on the previously-released “Saturday Mornings.” Anderson .PaakTy Dolla $ignJoey Bada$$, Jordan Ward and Raven Lenae will also make appearances on the 16 -track effort.

Since the release of his last album, Cordae has become a father for the first time, welcoming a baby girl last June along with tennis superstar Naomi Osaka.
Osaka recently detailed their family dynamic in an interview with InStyle.

She said: “We built a really good foundation. I don’t know if it’s because he’s just an easygoing guy, but I think we just respect each other’s opinions. And if we disagree on something, we talk it out. At the end of the day, we both want what’s best for Shai.”

DDG Says He Wants More Children With Halle Bailey Despite Split

image

DDG has claimed that he has not moved on from Halle Bailey despite their split and said that he hopes they can have more children together.

The shock remarks come just after a public row between the former couple after DDG took their son Halo on Kai Cenat‘s livestream without telling Bailey.

Opening up on his YouTube channel, DDG said: “I do want to have another kid. But I will say this — I don’t want to have another kid too far away. Like, I don’t want Halo to be 10 and his little brother is 1. I feel like that defeats the entire purpose of having another kid.”

He added: “One thing that I do not want to do is have ‘baby mamas’. If I was to have another kid, it definitely would be with the same person. I don’t want to have kids with multiple people.”

DDG then cleared up his relationship status: “No, I’m not dating. I haven’t ‘moved on,’ whatever that means in y’all’s sense. I’m just really focused on work — that’s what I be trying to explain to y’all. This week, I done linked with three girls — for work purposes — and I go on TikTok and I see y’all making edits like I’m dating this girl. Y’all don’t even know. I’m just working.”

The couple only announced their breakup last month and have since had to navigate their relationship in the public spotlight.

After the row over Bailey publicly criticizing DDG for taking their son on a livestream without her permission, the rapper defended her against hostile fans.

“One thing I don’t like what people do, I don’t like when people hate on Halle. I don’t care if people think she wrong or not, or if I think she wrong or right,” he said.

“She could be going through something mentally after having a kid that I can’t understand as a man. So when situations like this happen, I try to handle it with as much grace as possible because Halo needs her, I need her, we need each other to create a childhood that’s safe and fun and memorable for him.”

He added: “I just don’t appreciate when people try to put me against her or me versus her and all of this, ‘She’s wrong and he’s right, blah blah blah.’ Y’all could hate on me for as long as y’all want, but leave Halle alone, man.”
