Smiley has been quiet for the last few years, but he's back. The OVO rapper confirmed that he will be blessing fans with new music in 2025, including a collab with his label boss, Drake. Smiley recently went on live stream to hype up his upcoming album. Crucially, he confirmed to fans that he'll be working with the 6 God for the first time since their 2021 single "Over the Top." And yes, before you ask, the OVO signee confirmed their new song will be a "slapper."

"Drake too, we have a new slapper coming out," Smiley explained to fans. He assured those watching the stream that the collab will be released as a lead single. It will also be included on his upcoming album. Smiley doesn't have tons of music with Drake historically. The duo have continued to be close over the years, however. Drizzy gave Smiley a shout out during his 2023 interview with Bobbi Althoff. The shout out went viral, and Smiley discussed it during a BET interview. "[Drake] kills me," he told the outlet. "That was a good one that I got. Just two days before that, I went to [Toronto Chinese Restaurant] Hong Shing and I got General Tso’s chicken [with him]."

Smiley Also Wants To Collaborate With Cardi B

Smiley also praised Drake's impersonation of him. "This guy is spot on [with his impression of me]," he added. "He's never seen me order that or knew that's what I got." Smiley also credited Champagne Papi with helping him get off the streets in Toronto. "My big dogs, that street life, that’s my only big dogs," the rapper noted. "Those times after, Drake was my big dog. He was messing with me and then we're both trying to [meet each other] and then I seen his lifestyle and the rapper lifestyle, and that just became more appealing to me."

Smiley may have scored a second Drake collaboration, but he wants to work with another superstar rapper. He told the guy manning the camera that his dream collab would be Cardi B. "I wanna work with a female artist," he explained. "I need to do a Cardi B track. Cardi B is another artist who has taken a long time to release new music, though. She's one of the few who has actually taken longer to drop a new album than Smiley.

Bobby Shmurda Lives Out Lean On Me Dream As A High School Principal For A Day In New Jersey

Bobby Shmurda recently shared hard-earned wisdom with students at a New Jersey high school during a unique visit as Principal for the Day. On January 2, the rapper, best known for his breakout hit “Hot N*gga,” took over East Orange High School as part of a collaboration with Hot 97. His visit, documented on Instagram, featured snapshots and videos of him engaging with students, delivering heartfelt advice, and embracing his role with enthusiasm.

In his Instagram caption, Shmurda expressed gratitude for the opportunity, acknowledging the irony of the moment. “Principal Shmurda for a day—ha! What’s crazy is I never graduated from junior high,” he wrote. “So this is an honor. Huge thanks to Principal Whitaker for letting me lead East Orange High for the day. It was an amazing experience—y’all can check it out on YouTube via Hot 97.” Hot 97 later released a 39-minute episode capturing Shmurda’s visit, including a candid Q&A session where he reflected on his meteoric rise to fame and his fall from grace.

Bobby Shmurda Spends The Day As A High School Principal

“I was Bobby Shmurda, then I got locked up,” he recounted. He openly discussed his troubled youth, revealing he had his first run-in with the law at just 12 years old. “My friends were four or five years older than me. My mom would just cry all day.” Shmurda also reflected on his tumultuous time in prison. “The first few years, I was wilding—gangbanging, smoking, fighting, doing dumb stuff,” he admitted.

“I had to stop letting others define my behavior,” he told the students. “Every time I was about to achieve something, someone miserable would push me off course, and I’d end up in jail. You can’t thrive like that.” Shmurda’s story resonated with the students, blending inspiration with raw honesty. His message was clear: success requires discipline, self-awareness, and the courage to break free from destructive patterns.
