Charli XCX makes a star turn in teaser trailer for 100 Nights of Hero

Ahead of its world premiere at the Venice International Film Festival on September 6, a brand-new trailer for 100 Nights of Hero has been revealed. The film stars Charli xcx in her feature debut alongside an ensemble that includes Maika Monroe, Emma Corrin, Nicholas Galitzine, Felicity Jones, and Richard E. Grant. It is scheduled for a US theatrical release on December 5, while a U.K. release date has yet to be confirmed.

Directed by Julia Jackman (Pigs, Bonus Track), the historical fantasy is adapted from Isabel Greenberg’s graphic novel, which draws inspiration from the Middle Eastern classic "One Thousand and One Nights." The story follows the turmoil that unfolds when a charismatic visitor (Galitzine) arrives at a secluded castle, disrupting the fragile balance between a neglectful husband, his naïve wife Cherry (Monroe), and her loyal maid Hero (Corrin).

The newly released teaser, available to watch below, offers a series of dramatic glimpses of the cast. Among the striking images are Galitzine bloodied and holding a stag’s severed head, while Charli is seen playing a medieval string instrument beneath a willow tree.

After appearing briefly earlier this year in the Prime Video series Overcompensating, where she also served as executive producer of the show and its soundtrack, Charli is now branching further into acting. The BRIT Award winner will appear in Erupcja, a drama she co-wrote, which is set to debut at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 4. That same evening, another of her projects, Victim, will also premiere.

Charli will additionally feature in Sacrifice, a satirical action film from Romain Gavras that tells the story of a celebrity fundraiser interrupted by a radical activist group. While her role has not yet been disclosed, the project joins a growing list of acting ventures for the British artist. Other upcoming titles include thrillers "The Gallerist " and "I Want Your Sex, " along with "The Moment, " a mockumentary about pop stardom produced under her newly launched company, Studio365.

Earlier this summer, Charli headlined The Other Stage at Glastonbury Festival, a performance that Billboard U.K. praised as “a triumph of emotive pop hedonism and discomfiting intimacy.” Just weeks before, she marked the one-year anniversary of her sixth studio album Brat, the record that cemented her rise to worldwide mainstream recognition.

Red Hot Chili Peppers Land Over $300 Million From Catalog Sale

The Red Hot Chili Peppers have reportedly sold their recorded music catalog to Warner Music Group in a massive deal valued at more than $300 million.

The agreement arrives five years after the legendary rock band sold their publishing rights in a separate deal worth around $150 million. According to reports from The Hollywood Reporter and Billboard, the band’s recorded catalog, which includes 13 studio albums and nine releases distributed through Warner Music Group, was officially acquired on Friday for more than double the amount of the earlier publishing sale.

The acquisition is said to be part of a much larger partnership between Warner Music Group and Bain Capital. Together, the companies have reportedly spent around $650 million acquiring music and publishing assets, with the Red Hot Chili Peppers catalog making up nearly half of that total. Details regarding the remaining acquisitions have not yet been disclosed.

Back in May 2021, the Red Hot Chili Peppers sold their publishing rights to Hipgnosis Songs Fund for approximately $150 million. However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, those rights could soon change hands again as Hipgnosis, now operating under the name Recognition Music Group, is currently being acquired by Sony Music as part of another multi billion dollar transaction.

The band’s recorded catalog had reportedly been available on the market since last year with an asking price close to $350 million. Warner Music Group was widely viewed as the most natural buyer considering the label has worked with the band since the release of 1991’s Blood Sugar Sex Magik. Before joining Warner, the group’s first four albums were released through EMI.

Financially, the catalog remains extremely valuable, reportedly generating around $26 million in annual revenue. Ownership of the recordings had remained with the band prior to this latest agreement.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers most recently released Unlimited Love and its companion album Return of the Dream Canteen in 2022. At the time of reporting, neither the band nor Warner Music Group had publicly commented on the catalog acquisition.
