Zara Larsson thanked fans for turning her 2015 song ‘Lush Life’ into a viral hit while performing at Open’er Festival 2026.

‘Lush Life’ was originally released as the lead single to Zara Larsson’s second album ‘So Good’. The track blew up on TikTok last year after a live clip of Larsson performing the song alongside a fan during her ‘Midnight Sun’ headline tour went viral. The video inspired the ‘Lush Life’ trend, which has seen countless fans recreate the onstage choreography. The resurgence has also caused the song to top the charts in Germany, Austria, Czech Republic and Norway for the first time.

Performing onstage at the first day of Poland’s Open’er Festival earlier today (July 1), Larsson thanked fans for ‘Lush Life’s TikTok revival. “I feel so grateful to be here. I’ve been singing this song for over a decade now and it just keeps getting better and better and better. That’s all thanks to you guys,” she said, addressing the fans on the front row. “I recognise so many of you.”

Larsson and her backing dancers then set about trying to pick a fan to join them onstage for ‘Lush Life’. “This is my favourite part of the show, but it’s also the hardest” she said, with fans holding up homemade signs asking to dance with her. Eventually she picked Peter, who said joining Larsson onstage was a “dream come true”. He added: “I’ve never been so ready,” before nailing the routine.

She also delivered throwback anthems ‘Symphony’, ‘Ruin My Life’, ‘Wow’ and an acoustic version of her debut single ‘Uncover’ during her set. “I want to take it all the way back to 2013, which is when this all started for me. I feel so old when I say that but it would mean so much if you would sing it with me,” she explained.

Elsewhere during her main stage slot, Larsson performed tracks from last year’s ‘Midnight Sun’ and the recent ‘Girls Trip’ remix album. For ‘Hot & Sexy’, a song about misogyny and female empowerment, Larsson displayed lyrics including Crime on womankind, scared to go outside. It still blows my mind how we just let it slide… Can I just live?” on the huge video screen.

Ahead of final track ‘Midnight Sun’, Larsson told the crowd that she wanted them to feel free. “No one in this audience will judge you tonight, so be as loud as you can. When this set is over, I want you to be a little bit happier. I want you to go out into the world, spread that joy and have the best summer ever.”

Zara Larsson’s ‘Midnight Sun: Girls Trip’ remix album features collabs with Tyla, Robyn, Madison Beer, PinkPantheress and more. The album hit streaming in May but Larsson is already teasing more new music could be on the way. “I don’t want ‘Girls Trip’ to be over. I do have some other stuff recorded, I’m just gonna see how we can release it,” she said in an interview with Hits Radio.

Open’er Festival continues this week, with performances from The Cure, Calvin Harris, JENNIE, Addison Rae, Halsey, Ethel Cain and more set to place at the Polish festival. Get tickets here.

Sam Smith Reveals Relationship Inspired New Album "Hazel Eyes"

Sam Smith has revealed that their upcoming album Hazel Eyes is deeply rooted in romance and draws inspiration from their relationship with Christian Cowan.

The 34 year old singer has been in a relationship with the 32 year old fashion designer for more than three years, and shared that their fifth studio album reflects the early stages of their love story, following "the first two years of meeting someone that you’re with for a long time".

Speaking on the Dish podcast, they said: "I moved to New York to be with my partner. So that, the album kind of soundtracked the move from England to America.

"So, you can kind of hear that in some of the music. Yeah, I mean, the one, the first song on the album I wrote about the night before meeting my partner, and then it takes you through the first two years of meeting someone that you’re with for a long time.

"It’s a very romantic album, and very, just kind of proud in the romance."

Sam said they are especially excited about the finished project and couldn't be happier with how it turned out.

They added: "You know, I like flowery, beautiful things, so I’ve leaned into that and I’m just very proud of it. I love it."

The Stay With Me singer recently described the album, which is set to arrive on August 21 through Capitol Records UK, as one of the most personal projects they have ever created.

Sam said: "This album is an incredibly special record to me. I have been writing it for over three years with a very small group of beautiful, dear friends of mine.

"This album is very personal, and I feel I have deepened myself as an artist through the making of it, through being a producer on the record, to walking alongside this record from the start to the finish and pushing myself at every single turn.

"This record and this music is incredibly romantic."

They also shared that the creative journey behind the album taught them valuable lessons, many of which are reflected throughout the music.

They added: "I’ve learned so many life lessons through making this album, and I’ve documented it all through the music."
