Jordan Stephens has spoken publicly for the first time about the end of his relationship with Jade Thirlwall.
Reports emerged last week that the Rizzle Kicks star and former Little Mix member had ended their romance after six years together. Jordan later confirmed their separation during his weekly podcast Miss Me?
Speaking to fellow presenter Miquita Oliver, Jordan said he felt "uncomfortable" seeing his personal life become a news headline. He explained that he was not ready to offer any "specificity and insight" about their separation because he had "still not processed" what had happened.
"I'm very conflicted because I definitely pride myself on being open and transparent," he shared. "But this is a difficult one because, if I'm to believe how quickly speculation can arise, I'm always a couple of words or sentences away from making things worse.
"I'm definitely going to talk and write, I think, once things have settled a bit."
Jordan confessed that he had no idea how journalists at The Sun discovered the news. However, he does not want to reveal further details and give the media more material to discuss.
"Right now, I'm silent, Jade's silent," he continued. "People are making all types of wild f**king (theories), as they would always do, and desperately waiting for one of us to unfollow each other or waiting for one of us to post; the metrics are bizarre."
The Down with the Trumpets artist described the circumstances as "weird", explaining that appearing on the podcast and acting as though nothing was happening would have felt dishonest. At the same time, he remains determined to "protect people".
Jordan, who took over from Lily Allen as a Miss Me? presenter last month, clarified that he was not attempting to sound "too cryptic" and suggested he may discuss the situation in greater detail later.
Jordan, 34, and Jade, 33, began dating in 2020 after connecting through Zoom during the Covid 19 lockdown.
The Angel of My Dreams singer has not publicly commented on their separation.
