A$AP Rocky has revealed that Rihanna is currently creating new music.
While appearing on The Jason Lee Show on Wednesday, host Jason Lee asked the Fashion Killa rapper why his longtime partner had not released another album in more than 10 years.
Rihanna’s eighth studio record, Anti, arrived in January 2016.
“She is inside the studio at this moment. Yes, I finally admitted it. Forgive me, babe. She is seriously working and putting something together,” Rocky said. “I am definitely going to be in trouble for revealing that.”
Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, also dismissed rumours that he and Rihanna could release a collaborative project.
“Absolutely not. Even I would dislike Rocky and Rihanna if we decided to do that. It would sound terrible,” the 37 year old explained. “People are not asking to hear us record together. I create unconventional and experimental indie rap. My audience is more like a dedicated cult following. I am not a traditional artist. I might have mainstream success and good looks, but my songs are created for a smaller group of listeners who genuinely understand them.”
During another part of the interview, Rocky praised Rihanna for consistently supporting him, including before their romance began in 2021.
The hip hop artist remembered how the Umbrella singer came to comfort him shortly after his father passed away in December 2012.
“For some reason, she phoned to congratulate me while we were both staying in Paris. She immediately came to find me,” he recalled. “I still have no idea how Rihanna managed to get the key to my hotel room. I had stopped responding to calls, and she simply entered and asked whether I was alright. She truly behaved like a real friend.”
Rocky and Rihanna have three children together, sons RZA, four, and Riot, two, as well as their 10 month old daughter Rocki.
The Praise The Lord (Da Shine) rapper is currently performing on the Don't Be Dumb Tour, which continues through October.
