T'Myh B Makes Falling in Love Fun Again with Latest Single ‘Honey’

Singer and songwriter Tamiyah Alexis Brown—known as T'Myh B—is doubling down on love with an upbeat single about taking the first step. “Honey” showcases T'Myh B’s powerhouse vocals paired with her ability to bring words to life.

Born Tamiyah, T’Myh B incorporated her stage name as a reflection of who she aimed to be. “I picked a name at first that was a mashup of my middle name and first name,” she explains. “But that name didn’t feel right. So, I started to think about who I wanted to be as an artist. I want to be myself. I don’t have to change my name and be somebody new—I’ll simply be T’Myh B. Be with a dot. Just be.” This is the message T’Myh B hopes to send to listeners through her art: just be yourself.

Growing up in Alabama, T’Myh B was very shy, yet she mustered the courage to sing in the church choir with her mother and aunt. “We always sung acapella. I started singing background and blossomed into singing solos,” she adds. “From there, I grew into taking piano lessons in high school.”

Pursuing music wasn’t where T’Myh B saw her life going at that point. In fact, she had her eyes set on being a nurse. “Nursing didn’t bring me fulfillment,” shares T’Myh B. “So, I started writing songs. Originally, I wanted to be a ghost writer and write from the perspective of other artists. But then I shared my music with my friends and family, and they said, ‘you need to sing your own stuff.’ I countered that I didn’t want to sing in front of people… but then one day, I wrote a song from the heart.”

What happened next was a collaboration with a friend who invited T’Myh B to record at a proper studio. The only person who was surprised at the outcome was T’Myh B herself--everyone else knew she had it in her. “I shocked myself, really,” she jokes about the experience.

From that point on, T’Myh B began investing in her craft, writing more songs. “I grew my lyricism. My voice got better. It just grew from there. My passion grew, my love grew, my enthusiasm grew,” shares T’Myh B. Blending R&B/soul, hip-hop, and pop elements, T’Myh B perfected her own sound.

“Honey” is T’Myh B’s latest single. The song originates from being in love and all the emotions that follow. “I was in love at the time,” shares T’Myh B of her songwriting. “All my music comes from experience and the things I’ve been through. It’s a release of emotions. I was in love and wanted to write a story.” While searching for the beat to convey those emotions, T’Myh B stumbled upon one called “Honey,” and the single unfolded before her.

“I played off the word ‘honey.’ The lyrics came to be because I wanted to expand on that and write from a girl’s perspective of her telling the guy. You always see a man approaching a girl. But this does something different. It’s about feeling good. You can be the girl, or you can be the guy. It doesn’t matter—approach him or her. You can be the person to approach.”

T’Myh B hopes “Honey” will make listeners feel good about being in love—maybe they’ll even have the courage to go up and talk to the person they feel a connection with. “I want them to be inspired by love,” adds T’Myh B. “We often hear sad love songs but not ones that lift you up.”

The artist’s approach to songwriting is fairly standard. First, T’Myh B sources a beat and (hopefully) find one that sparks an emotion. In the case of “Honey,” the instrumentals gave T’Myh B a good feeling. The songwriting came naturally. “It just flowed,” adds T’Myh B. “One word made it all flow. I feel like it’s important to pick beats like that—the story comes to you. I didn’t pick the story; it came to me.” Working alongside her producer, Mali, T’Myh B finalized the song shortly after.

At the end of the day, T'Myh B wants the world to know that music is her passion, her release, her therapy. She hopes that by sharing her music with the world, her music can help someone the way the music of other artists helped her.

Rap Duo theplastiQs Drop Danceable Single ‘Money Talk’

Los Angeles, California-based hip-hop duo theplastiQs have released their latest single, “Money Talk,” inviting listeners to dance along.

TheplastiQs are Baby Quan (BBYQUAN) and Queen (It’z QUEEN). “We are two Aries that are carving a path for ourselves in the music world. We’re leaving a mark for our audience and our people,” they share.

Both artists came into music in recent years, bonding over their shared love of the craft and the synergy that transpired.

“We started in my living room playing around. We created our first song, ‘Cosmo,’ and knew we had to go get a studio session. It started with four of us—the Ghetto Rich Babies, GRB—but that didn’t work out. Two of us were taking it seriously. We bounce off each other. So, we turned into theplastiQs.” (And yes, that’s a reference to the original Mean Girls.)

Queen is a young artist, new to the world of music. With a fanbase of 1.6 million followers on TikTok, Queen hopes to pave the way for the trans community to put itself out there—while simultaneously growing as an individual.

“I also make sure that others like me are comfortable with themselves and able to speak,” adds Queen.

According to Queen, “I never thought I’d be a rapper or that people would take me serious. When you’re two people, you’re not by yourself. We just got together and started making really good music.”

Baby Quan began as a TikTok influencer before pursuing a career in music. With 1.7 million followers, Baby Quan shares comedy, cheerleading, and travels on social media.

“The music crew is new to me,” shares the artist. “I’m excited for this career.”

Of their larger-than-life personas, theplastiQs want people to know that “it’s about being pretty girl, a bad girl—a baddie.”

Their music is informed by life experiences and has taken shape since they first got started.

“We want people to relate to our story,” share theplastiQs. “We’re just having a conversation with each other. Now we’re ready and know what we want to do. This is the beginning of being able to be comfortable with our voices and sound and how we want to speak.”

TheplastiQs’ new single, “Money Talk” is about “getting money—and if you’re not talking about money, then there’s nothing to talk about.” The delivery is bold, in your face. It’s about sending a message and having a good time, reflecting theplastiQs’ goal to connect and entertain with listeners.

TheplastiQs dub “Money Talk” as a universal song. From the playful opening to the full drop, the attention-grabbing single unfolds into a club hit. Before they go into the studio, theplastiQs prepare their lyrics and have a beat ready to go. “Money Talk,” like many of their songs, took the shape of a collaborative back and forth between the duo.

The rap song joins theplastiQs’ diverse portfolio of sound.

“We’re working on other songs that are calmer and all types of genres. We want to make music for everybody—grandmas, kids, everyone.”

The duo relies on their producer to help take their music across genres and styles. At the end of the day, their approach to life is a lesson meant to be shared.

“Always work hard on what you put your craft into. Never give up and always be on top of your game. Don’t go 10%—go 110%.”

TheplastiQs also enjoy bringing their energy to the main stage. From Miami to Los Angeles, the powerhouse duo takes pride in entertaining live audiences.

“Feeling the excitement from the crowd. Hearing their cheers and how they know the words … In the studio, you work on your craft to show people. It’s really cool how it works out. Performing is great because you get to see their reactions,” explain theplastiQs.

TheplastiQs are excited to share their music with listeners, including the single “PlastiQ Barbie,” now available. “We have more singles coming out. We want everyone to be able to dance to them,” they add. “Our music is for clubs. We’re also paving the way for our community because it’s hard out there.”
