Fans have been reacting to the news that Coldplay could be donating money from their upcoming tour dates to the Music Venue Trust.
The news was shared earlier this morning (September 17), when the Chris Martin-led band announced details of huge stadium shows in London and Hull for next year – marking their only UK and European shows of 2025.
In the announcement, they also made a promise that 10 per cent of their proceeds from the gigs would be given to the Music Venue Trust, in a bid to help support grassroots venues around the country.
Now, fans have been taking to social media to share their excitement at the news, and praise the band for their efforts to protect the live music sector.
“Gotta say that is fantastic – 10 per cent of proceeds is gonna make a huge difference to grassroots. Bravo to Coldplay team and all involved,” one fan wrote on X/Twitter.
“As usual, this band lead the way! See you at Wembley (hopefully!),” another added, while a third wrote: “This is amazing news and the start of something big. All thanks to the tireless campaigning and a lot of shouting by @markdavyd & @musicvenuetrust.”
Elsewhere, another fan wrote: “More of this please. Well done to @musicvenuetrust for your tireless work to secure a long-term future for the essential grassroots venues all over the UK.”
Someone else also chimed in, explaining why the security of grassroots spaces needs to be protected by big names like Chris Martin: “10 per cent of #Coldplay’s proceeds for their gigs in Hull & Wembley will go to the Music Venue Trust helping the keep grassroots venues going for the next generation. If you don’t think it’s important, where do you think big bands play when they start out as small bands?”

The band first teased the news of a tour over the weekend with posters in the Dublin Castle in Camden – the location of the band’s first gig under the name ‘The Coldplay’.
Now, the shows come on the heels of them headlining this year’s Glastonbury, and in celebration of their upcoming 10th album ‘Moon Music’.
“Coldplay are the perfect example of a UK band who came through the grassroots circuit on their way to worldwide stadium-filling success,” said MVT CEO Mark Davyd. “It’s fantastic to see them celebrating their own pathway to Wembley by giving back to the grassroots music venues that supported them and recognising the artists and promoters that are struggling more than ever to build their own careers.”
Davyd added that the money will “go directly into work that ensures communities right across the country will continue to have access to great live music on their doorstep”.
“The band’s support really will stop venues closing, make tours happen and bring the joy of live music to thousands of people,” he continued. “After months of discussing Coldplay’s potential support around these UK shows with them, we’re so happy and grateful that the news is finally out there!”

On the environmental side of things, the band have promised a “world first for a stadium show”, and will be powering the Wembley shows’ production with 100 per solar, wind and kinetic energy – collected at the venue and elsewhere in the UK – and delivered by a specially-designed electric battery system. One of the satellite stages at each show will be fully powered by energy generated by the audience via kinetic flooring and power bikes.
Promising another “world first for a stadium show”, Coldplay will also be powering the Wembley shows’ production with 100 per solar, wind and kinetic energy – collected at the venue and elsewhere in the UK – and delivered by a specially-designed electric battery system. One of the satellite stages at each show will be fully powered by energy generated by the audience via kinetic flooring and power bikes.
After the general and pre-sales, Coldplay will make a limited number of ‘Infinity Tickets’ available for the shows via Ticketmaster at 12pm on Friday November 22, affordably priced at just £20 per ticket but limited to two tickets per purchaser and must be bought in pairs.
In other Coldplay news, the band’s ‘Music Of The Spheres’ tour recently became the biggest rock tour of all time, grossing $945.7million and selling 8.8million tickets since it began in March 2022. The shows have been praised for “setting a new standard” when it comes to an eco-conscious approach to live music, thanks to a slew of sustainable initiatives introduced by the band.
