Travis Scott's 'Days Before Rodeo' To Top Billboard 200 Thanks To Sales Surge

Travis Scott‘s Days Before Rodeo is set to secure the coveted number one spot on the Billboard 200, four weeks after missing out on the crown in contentious fashion.

The reissued 2014 mixtape narrowly missed out on topping the chart in its first week of release, despite earning over 360,000 equivalent units.

Now it looks set to surge to number one thanks to vinyl copies of the mixtape being shipped out, with Days Before Rodeo on track to move 130,000 equivalent units — including 125,000 in pure sales — in its fourth week, according to HITS Daily Double.

This figure would be enough to take Scott to number one over incumbent Sabrina Carpenter, who initially held the Houston native off the top spot with Short ‘n Sweet, which opened with 362,000 equivalent units.

It would also mark a massive jump for Days Before Rodeo which currently sits at number 106 on the Billboard 200 and suffered a historic slump in its second week.

The decade-old mixtape slid from number two to number 30 after experiencing a 94.7 percent decline in sales, the sharpest fall in sales this decade for an album that still managed to remain on Billboard’s albums chart.

Travis Scott had previously objected to Days Before Rodeo‘s initial chart position, claiming Billboard had used “unreliable and incomplete” data.

Scott’s Cactus Jack Records wrote a letter to the publication accusing it of over-weighting Carpenter’s sales through independent stores.

Luminate, who work with Billboard to compile chart data, rejected that their methods were incorrect, replying: “We are confident that our numbers are correct in accordance with our processes and methodology.”

The “SICKO MODE” star had received some criticism for the rollout of the reissued mixtape, which saw him release various merch bundles and deluxe editions of the project for its 10th anniversary.

Carpenter herself even appeared to shade Scott over the move, writing on X (formerly Twitter): “This is for Nicki,” a reference to Scott beating out Nicki Minaj‘s Queen to number one in 2018 with his Astroworld album.

The Young Money rapper did not take the result well, accusing La Flame of gaming the system with his bundle offers.

“What we’re not gonna do is have that Auto-Tune man selling fucking sweaters, telling you he sold half a million albums because he fucking didn’t,” she vented during an episode of Queen Radio.

“You stupid fuck. You got your fucking homeboy talking for you and you got your girlfriend selling tour passes. Stop it. Knock it the fuck off.”

Pharrell 'Annoyed' By Celebrities Endorsing Politicians: 'Shut Up. Nobody Asked You'

Pharrell has hit out at celebrities who have been endorsing politicians ahead of the presidential election later this year.

The Neptunes hitmaker made his feelings clear on the matter during a lengthy chat with The Hollywood Reporter.

He said: “I don’t do politics. In fact, I get annoyed sometimes when I see celebrities trying to tell you [who to vote for]. There are celebrities that I respect that have an opinion, but not all of them.

“I’m one of them people [who says], ‘What the heck? Shut up. Nobody asked you.’ When people get out there and get self-righteous and they roll up their sleeves and shit, and they are out there walking around with a placard: ‘Shut up!’

“So, no, I would rather stay out of the way, and obviously, I’m going to vote how I’m going to vote. I care about my people and I care about the country, but I feel there’s a lot of work that needs to be done, and I’m really about the action.”

The producer and fashion designer also said: “I’m more of a humanitarian. I like people trying to help people. Not sure I’ll ever vote far right. I won’t do that.”

He went on to explain that he was more interested in activism and philanthropy than politics: “But I don’t really do politics. Some policies I lean into; I think education is important. We have a nonprofit called YELLOW [whose mission is equity through education].

“And then there’s another 501(c)(3) that helps Black and Brown entrepreneurs called Black Ambition — those are the things I lean into. I’m not an activist, but I believe in action. But I do believe in activists, and you need everybody.”

Despite his comments, Pharrell has endorsed political candidates in the past, most notably Hilary Clinton ahead of the 2016 election that she lost to Donald Trump.

Speaking to Ellen DeGeneres that year, Pharrellsaid: “It’s time for a woman to be in there. Women think about things in a holistic way, it’s not so individual.

“I’m saying I’m happy to be a man, but I love women. The thing is, if we had somebody looking after our country that thought about things as a whole, I just feel like it just would be different.”
