Usher has credited roller skating with "keeping him young".

The 46-year-old R&B star has revealed that he regularly roller skates to maintain his physique and keep his energy levels high.

In a recent interview with People, Usher said that "skating has always kept me young", before adding, "And it's something that I feel is a necessity for youth nowadays. Everybody spends so much time scrolling."

Earlier this month, the DJ Got Us Fallin' In Love hitmaker and model Liberty Ross opened Flipper's Roller Boogie Palace, a full-service roller skating venue at The Venetian hotel in Las Vegas.

As well as being a form of exercise, Usher told the outlet that roller skating can also be a form of self-expression.

"It's a form of self care," the Grammy-winning artist shared. "The freedom and expression, I really feel like it's a language when you get deeper into the cultures of skating for rhythm, period. And people need to understand how fun this really is."

Usher went on to say that he hopes to see his fellow musicians at the rink soon.

"(Dr.) Dre, Snoop (Dogg) and Pharrell (Williams) getting out here would be crazy," he said. "(Hip Hop group) NWA came up through skaters, a lot of those early hip-hop bands could only get space to perform in the roller rinks. I can still remember as a kid performing in rinks. It's always been the grounds for culture."

Elsewhere in the interview, the Yeah! hitmaker joked that he would be spending more time at the rink than in the kitchen this festive season.

"I wouldn't bank on me for your Thanksgiving dinner," he quipped. "No, no. I might be able to do some mac and cheese and a little banana pudding but that's about it."

Lil Durk Raises Eyebrows With 'Free Durk' Merch Prices: 'Bro Tryna Afford Bail'

image

Lil Durk has been criticized for selling “Free Durk” merchandise at high prices while he sits behind bars on murder for hire charges.

Durk’s team announced a collection of clothing in support of the rapper who is being held in jail without bail.

The shirts and hoodies, both of which are emblazoned with the slogan “Free Durk,” are retailing for $45 and $95 respectively.

The price points led to fierce criticism from fans who claimed that were being exploited by the rapper and his team.

One commented: “The $95.00 for a made in China hoodie is crazy work.”

Another fan said: “Should add an extra 10 years for these damn prices….”

One fan also joked: “Nobody wants that shit keep him locked up.”

Durk is currently being held in Los Angeles after pleading not guilty to murder for hire charges.

He may be released on bond after a December 12 hearing, though prosecutors are strongly opposed because the rapper was allegedly trying to flee the country before he was arrested.

Lil Durk was initially hit with one charge of conspiracy to commit murder-for-hire over an alleged murder plot that killed the cousin of his rap rival Quando Rondo.

However, in a superseding indictment filed on November 7, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Central District of California charged Durk with two more crimes: one count of use of interstate facilities to commit murder-for-hire resulting in death, and one count of using, carrying and discharging firearms and a machine gun and possession of such firearms in furtherance of a crime of violence resulting in death.

The superseding indictment also adds the Grammy-winning rapper as the lead defendant to the initial indictment in the case, which charged five other men over the killing.

According to prosecutors, the attempt on Quando Rondo’s life that killed Lul Pab was payback for the murder of King Von, who was fatally shot during a scuffle with the Quando’s crew two years prior.

Lil Durk is accused of putting a bounty on Rondo’s head and providing money and resources to members of his OTF (Only The Family) crew to carry out the hit.

He faces the prospect of life in prison if convicted.
