DJ Khaled and NBA Youngboy continue to ride their wave of success, this time teaming up with Post Malone for the much-anticipated single Brother. Khaled built up the hype on Friday with a lively Instagram post, writing, “Stepping hotter than a HOT SHOT! Caribbean Awards, I'm on my way.”
The track serves as a preview of Khaled’s upcoming album Aalam of God, which he has described as his “Black Album,” while making it clear it will not be his last release. Brother also arrives at an interesting point in time, with Post Malone leaning deeper into his new country sound while NBA Youngboy brings his melodic, street-rooted rap. Together, the song celebrates loyalty and the unbreakable bond of family.
Youngboy raps about cherishing moments with his girlfriend and children, while also remembering his “brothers” and the importance of family members, such as mothers and siblings. Khaled brings in his trademark ad-libs and high energy, giving the track its signature spark.
Aalam of God will be Khaled’s 14th studio album, and as always, it is expected to feature a roster full of big names. Earlier this month, he and Youngboy released the Deshawn mixtape, which built buzz for the record and gave listeners a taste of what’s ahead.
Over the years, Khaled has turned his albums into showcases for the most prominent artists of each era. They often feature posse tracks designed to spotlight up-and-coming stars, with past appearances from Cory Gunz, Ace Hood, Childish Gambino, and many more.
The album was initially announced for a 2024 release but was subsequently postponed. Khaled has also hinted at wanting icons like Rihanna on the project, adding even more excitement around what’s shaping up to be one of his biggest albums yet.
“Brother” - DJ Khaled Ft. Post Malone & NBA Youngboy
Quotable Lyrics
I'll take your side whether you wrong or right
Be there for you through your darkest times
Life was hard but we turned out alright
I'll be by your side, do or die
For my brother
