Peter Rosenberg Says Nicki Minaj’s “Monster” Verse Is Overhyped

Peter Rosenberg has never been shy about criticizing Nicki Minaj, and that history runs deep. One of the most explosive moments came when Rosenberg tore into her hit “Starships,” dismissing it as not real hip hop. The comments ignited a bitter feud that escalated to the point where Nicki ultimately pulled out of her scheduled performance at Hot 97 Summer Jam in 2012.

The tension later spilled into a face to face encounter, where Nicki did not hold back. “To me, I just don't know your resume. I never found you funny, I never found you entertaining, I never found you smart, I just found you annoying,” she said plainly. “Because I grew up in New York, I've grown up on Hot 97… I was like ‘who are you?’ To me you don't have enough of a resume to make those comments, but you know, you did, and it is what it is.”

For years after that exchange, the two appeared to leave each other alone. That quiet stretch ended yesterday afternoon, December 22, when Rosenberg once again broke the silence. The longtime hip hop voice took to social media to share an opinion he said had been on his mind.

This time, his focus was Nicki Minaj’s verse on Monster by Kanye West, a standout track from My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. Rosenberg went beyond mild critique, calling the verse not just overrated, but the most overhyped in rap history.

He wrote, “Is today the day we can admit the monster verse is the most overrated verse in hip hop history lol?”

Some fans might assume Rosenberg’s comments are rooted purely in their long standing history, but the timing suggests something more current may be at play. His wording hints that the tweet could be connected to Nicki Minaj’s recent and controversial appearance at AmericaFest.

The event, organized by Turning Point USA and founded by conservative activist Charlie Kirk, is now overseen by his widow, Erika. During a live Q and A and broader political discussion with Nicki, the rapper spoke glowingly about Donald Trump while pushing back against critics of her views. “We're the cool kids. The other people, they're the ones who are still just disgruntled. But really, they're just disgruntled with themselves. They are angry with themselves, you guys. So you can't wake up and think about somebody who is determined to just stay mad. I literally tell them, ‘Stay mad.’ ‘Cause we're going to stay joyful and peaceful and iconic and smart. And we're going to stay thinkers in a world that doesn't want us to think. We will think. By ourselves, on our own. We will continue to think.”

Taylor Swift Drops New Easter Egg Hinting At Another Album

image

Taylor Swift has once again sent fans into full detective mode after a split second moment in the finale of her Disney+ docuseries End of an Era appeared to quietly suggest that another new album could already be taking shape.

In the closing seconds of Episode 6, a title card appears on screen outlining Swift’s achievements following the Eras Tour. One particular line immediately caught fans’ attention: “On October 3, 2025, Taylor released her 12th studio album. The biggest album of her career.” After a brief pause, two additional words appear: “To date.”

The subtle tease arrives as Swift continues to enjoy the overwhelming success of The Life of a Showgirl, her current chart topping release, which is also celebrated throughout the series. The album has already shattered modern sales records and spent several weeks at Number 1, firmly securing its place as a defining moment in her career. Still, the wording of the title card, especially the deliberate addition of “to date”, has Swifties convinced she is hinting that album 13 is closer than anyone realises.

The mysterious moment also follows recent comments that made it clear Taylor has no plans to step out of the spotlight anytime soon.

While appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, the global star addressed criticism suggesting she should step aside and make room for others.

She brushed off the idea with her usual honesty, explaining to the host that some people want her to disappear so they can talk about her in the past, but she has no interest in doing that.

Her response reinforced her determination to remain front and centre in popular culture, even after nearly two decades of chart dominance. With the record breaking Eras Tour commanding headlines throughout 2023 and 2024, Swift has shown that her momentum is far from slowing.

Taylor also opened up about the fact that she does not consider herself a “chill” person.

The Fate of Ophelia hitmaker, who wrapped up her 21 month Eras Tour in December 2024, shared that while she knows how to relax, slowing down has never really been part of her nature because she always feels the need to stay busy.

Colbert asked the Grammy winner how she deals with the emotional shift that comes when a long running project comes to an end, especially as his own show approaches its final months.

She explained that in this particular situation, she could not fully relate, but noted that both of them are highly driven people who struggle to switch off when they take time away.

She added that even during breaks, she cannot quiet the urge to get up and fill her day with activity, though she has learned to change what those activities look like.

Taylor concluded by saying she can find ways to unwind, but she will never truly be laid back, joking that hobbies like baking bread or cross stitching give her something to focus her energy on, calling them unexpectedly wonderful outlets.
