Duffy is reportedly working with a new management team as she prepares for a possible return.
It was confirmed last month that the Mercy singer plans to step back into public view to share her story about the sexual assault and kidnapping that led her to step away from fame in 2011. She is expected to speak about the experience in a Disney+ documentary and is now believed to be working with a new manager from TaP Music, the company also known for representing Lana Del Rey and Leigh-Anne Pinnock.
The 41 year old singer has also reportedly brought back the same PR firm, MBC PR, that supported her during her rise to global recognition following her award winning 2008 album Rockferry. Some industry observers believe this could be an early sign that she may be preparing to release new music.
A source from within the music business told The Sun newspaper's Bizarre column: "Duffy's made it clear in the past that she did not intend to make a return to music, but things change behind the scenes.
"The new Disney+ documentary seems to be the first step in a long list of things that are being planned for Duffy.
"She wouldn't be taking on new teams if she didn't intend to step back into music, so the whole industry is abuzz with what she is planning.
"By the sound of it, there could well be new music from her before the end of the year."
Duffy largely stayed out of the public eye for close to ten years before finally speaking about what happened in a 2020 Instagram post. In that message she explained how she had been drugged, abducted and taken abroad where she experienced severe abuse and rape.
The Warwick Avenue singer is expected to share her experiences in greater detail for the first time through the Disney+ documentary, which promises "new, unprecedented access" to the Welsh artist as well as interviews with people close to her including friends, relatives and figures from the music industry.
Gill Callan, who is directing the project, said: "Duffy's life has been shaped by success and fame, but equally by pain, defiance and an irrepressible sense of self.
"I'm drawn to the tension between vulnerability and confidence in her story and how a person can be deeply affected by their experiences, yet still find a powerful, expressive voice that is unmistakably hers."
