Megan Thee Stallion is stepping away from Moulin Rouge! The Musical earlier than expected, ending her run two weeks ahead of schedule.
In a statement released on Monday, the Savage rapper, whose real name is Megan Pete, confirmed that she will be wrapping up her time in the Broadway production sooner than planned.
Megan’s last performance in the role of Zidler is now set for May 1.
“It’s been such an honour to be part of Moulin Rouge! and I’ve met so many amazing people in this theatre! Y’all work so hard and I have so much respect for the dedication, the stamina, the work ethic, the time and the effort y’all put into the work!” she shared. “Every single person at the Moulin Rouge! has inspired me to go harder as an entertainer.”
She also took time to show appreciation for her fellow cast members and her fanbase, known as Hotties, for standing by her throughout the experience.
“I’m so grateful for the cast and crew that made this experience so meaningful. Y’all are really some of the kindest human beings I’ve ever met! To all the Hotties that showed up or planned to attend, thank you for supporting me during this incredible journey!” the 31 year old added.
Back in February, Megan revealed she would take on the role, originally named Harold Zidler, for a limited eight week engagement.
She made history as the first woman to step into the Zidler role, following performers such as Boy George, Eric Anderson and Bob the Drag Queen, who have previously portrayed the character.
Her Broadway run has unfolded alongside a series of personal challenges.
Earlier this month, the Hot Girl Summer artist was taken to hospital after falling ill during a performance, where she was treated for extreme exhaustion and related symptoms before returning to the stage days later.
Over the weekend, Megan also shared on Instagram Stories that she had split from Klay Thompson after nearly a year together.
In the post, the Texas native accused the basketball player of being unfaithful.
Representatives for Klay have yet to respond to the claims.
