Waka Flocka has a new flame, and he’s not standing for any criticism.
The “Hard in da Paint” rapper posted a photo of him and his girlfriend, who he identified only as “Big Mel,” on Instagram on Wednesday (January 10).
Almost immediately, commenters started mentioning Waka’s ex-wife Tammy Rivera. The couple split in 2022 after eight years together.
“I feel like only Tammy is for waka,” wrote one commenter. “Where’s Tammy?” asked another, preceding the comment with a broken heart emoji.
That was enough for Waka, and for his and Tammy’s daughter Charli as well. Both jumped into the comments themselves.
“If y’all really loved me and Tammy respectfully can y’all respect our personal life’s,” Waka wrote.
Charli commented: “Leave my father alone he is happy and my mother is happy both in separate relationships.”
You can see the post below.
Mel’s Instagram profile, besides containing cuddly IG Stories with Waka, says that she is an educator and has six degrees, and is also a Fashion Nova ambassador.
When it comes to his now-dissolved relationship with Tammy Rivera, Waka Flocka Flame has been willing to take his share of the blame.
Speaking to HipHopDX in August 2022, the rapper acknowledged there were plenty of things he could’ve done differently to prevent a divorce.
When asked if he imagined going through a divorce on television, he responded sternly: “Fuck no. I chose this life 14, 15 years ago, the whole relationship, when I chose to get in this arena of being a celebrity, so it is what it is.
“It’s definitely depressing with egg on your face, but when it’s like, for me, it just feels more comforting to say, ‘Man, I feel like I caused it.’”
He added: “That’s me being a bigger man. That’s not saying me, I’m the reason that we split. That’s not the reason. There’s no reason. That cheating stuff, that shit happened eight years ago. The reason we split is … there’s no reason […] It was just a mutual feeling.”
