Depeche Mode‘s Dave Gahan, Queens Of The Stone Age‘s Josh Homme, Chrissie Hynde and more have been announced as performers for a Mark Lanegan tribute show this winter.
Titled “Mark Lanegan – A celebration”, the one off show will celebrate the late singer and songwriter who passed away at the age of 57 back in early 2022. It will take place on December 5 on what would have been his 60th birthday at London’s Roundhouse which was where he made his final live appearance in the city.
Other musicians set to perform at the show include the likes of Primal Scream‘s Bobby Gillespie, Greg Dulli, The Kills‘ Alison Mosshart, Soulsavers and more. General ticket sales will commence on Tuesday (October 1) at 10am local time. Visit here to purchase tickets.
Soulsavers will be serving as the house band for the night with friends such as Troy Van Leeuwen, Aldo Struyf and other special guests sitting in throughout the evening. Speaking about the event in a press release, Dulli said: “What a wonderful night this will be. Singing his songs and sharing stories of our dear friend in a much-deserved celebration of his life and music.”
Collaborations were a massive part of Lanegan’s career. The musician worked closely with Queens Of The Stone Age and contributed to various albums including their seminal third LP ‘Songs For The Deaf’.
Lanegan also formed The Gutter Twins with Greg Dull. Their critically acclaimed album ‘Saturnalia’ was released in 2008. He’s also collaborated with Isobel Campbell on a three-album partnership. Lanegan has also worked with Gahan on a cover of David Bowie and Giorgio Moroder’s ‘Cat People’ for Soulsavers’ 2012 LP ‘The Light the Dead See’.
In other news, last month, ‘Heard a Train’, a previously unreleased Mark Lanegan track was released. The track was featured in Lanegan’s post-humous reissue of his 2004 LP ‘Bubblegum’.
