Lily Allen announces comeback album West End Girl

Lily Allen is preparing to release her first album in seven years, West End Girl, this Friday (October 24, 2025), and she has admitted she feels “nervous” because it is the most “vulnerable” record of her career so far.

The Smile singer, who has signed a new deal with BMG, wrote the emotionally raw tracks in just 10 days.

In a statement, the 40-year-old shared: “I’m nervous.

The record is vulnerable in a way that my music perhaps hasn’t been before – certainly not over the course of a whole album. I’ve tried to document my life in a new city and the events that led me to where I am in my life now.”

Those events include the breakdown of her marriage to Stranger Things actor David Harbour, 50.

She continued: “At the same time, I’ve used shared experiences as the basis for songs which try to delve into why we humans behave as we do, so the record is a mixture of fact and fiction which I hope serves as a reminder of how stoic yet also how frail we humans can be. In that respect I think it’s very much an album about the complexities of relationships and how we all navigate them. It’s a story……”

This marks Lily’s first LP since her fourth studio album No Shame came out in 2018.

Between 2006 and 2018, the pop star released four albums and scored massive hits with songs like Smile, The Fear, and Not Fair.

She previously opened up about finding comfort in making new music after going through heartbreak.

Speaking on her Miss Me? podcast, she said: “Music is the one place where I can let it all go. It’s almost like therapy. I like to write and record at the same time with somebody else in the room — there’s something therapeutic about it.

My producer or my co-writers become almost like therapists because I’m processing the things that I’m going through in real time ... I can do that in music, but I can’t really do it when I’m talking to friends or my parents. It doesn’t mean I’m being inauthentic ... I just don’t feel like I can sum things up properly. But I can do it in a three-and-a-half minute pop song.”

Sam Ryder has unveiled his second studio album Heartland.

Released through the independent label Artist Theory, the new project captures what the 2022 Eurovision runner-up describes as “the feeling of the last couple of years.”

The album represents a fresh chapter for Ryder, who took time to pause and reflect after the whirlwind success of his 2022 breakout hit Space Man, a Number 1 album, and billions of streams around the world.

After stepping away from Parlophone, the singer found himself without a label and struggling with a crisis of confidence.

He recorded the album in Nashville, living in a log cabin during the process. The tracks draw inspiration from the city’s rich musical heritage, classic Western and Hollywood scores, and elements of soul music.

Speaking about the record, Ryder shared: “This record is a collection of songs attempting to convey the feeling of the last couple of years. The wish is to find a connection with you no matter where you are in the world, whether it’s flying high or feeling like you’re the only ship out on the ocean. If you’re navigating the pain of forgiveness and the weight that comes with holding onto resentment, if you’ve lost confidence in yourself and you’re trying to find a way back to your spark, spirit and hope, this is for you. Take to the Heartland. I’m with you every step.”

He also spoke about the single The Feeling Never Went Away, explaining: “It’s about still having feelings for someone or something even though they perhaps don’t deserve them anymore… Even though I think I’ve conquered them, back they come. Healing and breaking the cycle is about recognising these feelings and accepting them.”

The 13-track album, a follow-up to 2022’s There’s Nothing but Space, Man!, features the previously released songs White Lies, OH OK, and Armour.

Ryder collaborated with an impressive roster of producers and songwriters on the project, including Mikky Ekko, Steve Mac, Mike Elizondo, Tom Elmhirst, Nick Lobel, and J Kash, among others.

The release comes after his acclaimed Glastonbury debut in June and ahead of his biggest headline performance yet at London’s Wembley Arena on November 6 — a particularly special venue for Ryder, as it’s where he attended his first concert as a teenager.
