The start of 2026 has already been rough for several figures in hip hop, and that list now includes hitmaking standout Hit-Boy. The California born producer and rapper recently had his studio and office broken into by multiple intruders. He later uploaded unsettling surveillance footage from the incident to his social media accounts, including X.
He explained the situation by writing, "This morning around 4am some idiots broke into my office / studio and went thru a hassle just to get next to nothing." Hit-Boy went on to mock the thieves, pointing out that they failed to take anything of real importance, including his Grammy awards and jewelry.
As if calling them out publicly was not enough, the Diamond certified producer followed up by releasing a freestyle titled "Crow Bars." On the self produced track, Hit-Boy sounds calm and unfazed, delivering sharp lines such as "they brought crow bars, and left with karma."
As noted earlier, Hit-Boy is not the only prominent hip hop figure to deal with this kind of setback so early in the year. Fellow producer and rapper Sonny Digital also had his studio broken into. In his case, the thieves reportedly walked away with high value equipment.
He addressed the situation directly in a video shared on social media. "Yesterday, some bum as n**s came in here and stole all my keyboards, all my equipment and sht... Sht so crazy because I look out for everybody so much man. Don't worry about the materials, I'm going to this sht back. It's just the principle of it though, you know what I'm saying?"
Despite the ordeal, the hope is that Hit-Boy does not let the incident shake his momentum. He had a standout year in 2025, and many are eager to see him carry that energy into 2026.
Over the past year, the Fontana native released multiple projects alongside underground West Coast artists such as Spank Nitti James and LaRussell.
Hit-Boy Had A Productive 2025
Still, his most notable and successful effort was GOLDFISH, a collaborative album with fellow production heavyweight The Alchemist. The 15 track project was praised for its smooth and atmospheric beats paired with seasoned lyricism.
The duo also brought in a strong lineup of guest rappers, including Conway the Machine, Havoc of Mobb Deep, Jay Worthy, and others.
