Moby has revealed details of his forthcoming album ‘Future Quiet’ and shared a newly reworked version of the Stranger Things favourite ‘When It’s Cold I’d Like To Die’, featuring Gabriels vocalist Jacob Lusk.
The release will serve as the 23rd studio album from the acclaimed producer and songwriter, and is scheduled to arrive on February 20 via BMG. It is available to pre order here.
Made up of 11 tracks, the album signals a fresh creative phase for Moby, blending contemporary piano minimalism with ambient textures and a selection of collaborative performances.
Earlier today Friday January 16, the electronic music pioneer unveiled the project’s first preview with a reimagined take on ‘When It’s Cold I’d Like To Die’. The original version appeared on his 1995 album ‘Everything Is Wrong’ and featured vocals from Mimi Goese. The track later gained renewed attention after appearing in both the first and fourth seasons of hit Netflix series Stranger Things.
Following the song’s resurgence and rise to becoming Moby’s most streamed track, along with its viral success on TikTok, he has now shared an orchestral reinterpretation as the lead single, with Jacob Lusk taking on vocal duties.
“Like anyone who’s heard Jacob
He went on to add: “The results speak for themselves, as his vocals on ‘When It’s Cold I’d Like To Die’ are, I say with something approaching objectivity, transcendent.”
Turning to the wider album, Moby explained that while the music leans heavily into minimal and ambient territory, it should not be mistaken for something lacking impact.
“‘Future Quiet’ is, not surprisingly, quiet,” Moby explained. “To be clear; I love bombast. I love excess and volume. But as the world gets louder and crazier I find myself needing the refuge of quiet, both as a listener and as a musician.”
“For me, and hopefully for others,’ Future Quiet’ is a refuge. The world, self evidently, is more demanding than it’s ever been. The world screams at us, our screens scream at us, other people scream at us, and to retreat from the screaming we need safety and refuge,” he added. “That for me is the goal of ‘Future Quiet’. Writing and recording it was a refuge for me, and I hope that listening to it is a refuge for you.”

The announcement follows news of Moby’s largest tour in more than ten years, which includes a major headline performance at Brighton Beach later this summer.
The show marks his long awaited return to Brighton, where he has not performed for over 25 years, and currently stands as his only confirmed UK appearance of 2026. Visit here for tickets.
His most recent UK performance took place in autumn 2024 when he headlined London’s O2. Additional dates scheduled for 2026 include appearances at Coachella in California, Rock Werchter in Belgium and Mad Cool Festival in Madrid, alongside further shows across the US and Europe.
In 2023, Moby spoke with NME as part of the Does Rock ‘N’ Roll Kill Braincells?! series, where he revealed that he once nearly formed a supergroup with members of Pantera and Mötley Crüe’s Tommy Lee.
“The Sober Fucks,” he correctly answered. “I’ve been sober for a while now, but this was a late night, alcohol fuelled idea between Pantera’s guitarist Dimebag Darrell, drummer Vinnie Paul, Tommy Lee and I. I regret not starting this chaotic metal band with them, which would have sounded like a cross between Pantera and my old punk group Flipper.”
