BLACKPINK’s LISA has enjoyed a remarkable year, building a successful solo career away from the K pop supergroup that is now being documented on film. Sony Music Vision revealed on Monday, July 20, that the singer will be featured in the upcoming full length documentary Always Lalisa. The movie will receive its world premiere as part of the gala program at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival, taking place from Sept. 10 through 20.
According to the official synopsis, the documentary captures an important period in LISA’s journey, when, “for the first time since childhood, she steps away from BLACKPINK for a year of independence. With the clock ticking before her return to the group, LISA confronts the fear and pressure of launching a solo career, pursuing acting, and building a brand, while yearning to maintain a personal life beyond the spotlight.”
At the time of publication, further details about the project had not been announced, including when it might arrive in theaters or become available on a streaming service.
During her time outside BLACKPINK, LISA performed “Goals” with Anitta and Rema at the opening ceremony for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. She also delivered a solo performance at the 2025 Coachella Festival, appeared on the cover of Vanity Fair’s summer 2026 edition, became the first K pop artist selected for the Met Gala host committee and launched her acting career in HBO’s popular series The White Lotus.
LISA is also acting in and serving as an executive producer on two Netflix projects, including the action movie TYGO and an untitled romantic comedy inspired by Notting Hill. She will also lead her sold out four show Las Vegas residency, VIVA LA LISA, at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace on Nov. 13, 14, 27 and 28.
Sue Kim directed Always Lalisa, which was produced by Sony Music Vision alongside RCA Records, Tremolo Productions, Salt Water Productions and LLOUD CO.
In June, LISA confirmed that she had started developing the follow up to Alter Ego, her first full length solo album. The record debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Album Sales chart in March 2025.
