Last summer, Lil Wayne went on tour to promote his fourteenth studio album, Tha Carter VI. During the run, he performed in numerous cities across both the United States and Canada, making stops in places such as Toronto, Detroit, Seattle, Los Angeles, Dallas, Atlanta, and others. Artists including Tyga, Belly Gang Kushington, NoCap, and Hot Boys joined the tour as opening performers.
At this point, the rap icon is getting ready to return to the stage once again to celebrate the 20 year milestone of his Tha Carter series. For this upcoming run, he will be accompanied by guest performers 2 Chainz and The Game. According to the announcement shared on Instagram, the tour will begin on June 30 in Bangor, Maine. From there he is expected to visit cities like Chicago, Long Beach, Denver, and Fort Worth before finishing the tour in October with a final performance in Knoxville, Tennessee.
The upcoming shows will also give fans a chance to revisit Lil Wayne’s catalog, which recently became a hot topic of discussion online.
LaRussell Lil Wayne Controversy
The conversation began after LaRussell appeared on the Truth Hurts podcast in February. During the interview, he shared that there was a time when he started questioning the depth of Lil Wayne’s music.
"I had a moment in my journey where I had grew a disdain for Wayne," he said.
"Just because I started listening to everything [and] I started maturing as a human, and I'm like, 'Damn, this n***a wasn't talking about nothing for a long time,'" he continued. "As someone who grew up in these communities and grew up with homies who I seen want to be Bloods 'cause they following Wayne, and want to be gangsters, and want to shoot. All the gun bars. I've seen the negative that he contributed to the community. And I have to look like, 'Man, what are the songs where he really talked about something and gave?'"
