Labrinth Speaks Out Against Fake Trends In The Music Industry

Labrinth has returned to Instagram with another message, and it is clear he is still frustrated. In a fresh Notes app statement posted Tuesday (March 17), the “All for Us” artist openly shared his thoughts about the current state of the music business.

“WE HOVER AROUND BIG STARS HOPING TO BE IN THEIR PLACE ONE DAY LIKE SNAKES,” Labrinth wrote in capital letters. “WAITING TO EAT THEIR OWNERS.”

He went on to describe how many aspiring musicians enter the industry with dreams but are eventually shaped into what he compared to “wolves of Wall Street.” According to Labrinth, creative people often end up sacrificing genuine connections with others in order to chase bigger career opportunities.

The artist also posed a direct challenge to the industry, writing: “WHO THE F— SAID THIS IS NORMAL OR OK TO TURN WHAT I CALL GODS NOISE (our music) INTO BUSINESS TRANSACTIONS?”

He finished the message with a brief but firm closing statement: “I DONT SUBSCRIBE.”

In the caption of the post, Labrinth explained that he values authentic connections and has no interest in using others or being taken advantage of himself. “Fake ain’t a good business plan,” he added.

Although Labrinth made it clear he disagrees with how the industry operates, many fellow artists appeared to support his perspective. Within an hour of the post being shared, several figures from the music world and beyond showed their agreement.

Singer India.Arie replied, “We have all felt this! I really feel you,” while former Fifth Harmony member Lauren Jauregui reacted with three speaking head emojis.

“I genuinely think about this every day,” Dove Cameron commented. Fans also filled the comment section with supportive messages, asking who had upset the singer and assuring him they continue to support and appreciate him.

This is not the first time recently that Labrinth has used Instagram to voice his frustrations about the business. Just days earlier on Friday, he criticized both his record label and the HBO series Euphoria in another written post. That message, which has since been removed, read, “I’M DONE WITH THIS INDUSTRY / F–K COLUMBIA / DOUBLE F–K EUPHORIA / I’M OUT.”

What prompted Labrinth’s recent posts remains unclear. The British singer and producer released his fourth studio album Cosmic Opera: Act I in January, which is his second release with Columbia, the Sony affiliated label he joined in 2019. He has also served as the primary composer for Euphoria since the show first premiered in 2019. The third season of the series is scheduled to debut April 12, and Labrinth recently posted another message, which was later deleted, that appeared to hint at his work on the upcoming season’s score.

Before his work with Euphoria and Columbia, Labrinth was signed to Simon Cowell’s label Syco, where he released two albums. Since launching his career in 2010, he has placed seven tracks on the Billboard Hot 100, including a collaboration with Euphoria star Zendaya.

At the time this article was published, Labrinth’s most recent Instagram message remains available to view below.

Shakira Reveals When And Where Her Spain Residency Will Take Place

Shakira is set to bring her record breaking global tour to Madrid this fall with a unique concept. The Colombian pop icon will present a three night residency inside the Shakira Stadium, a custom built 4.2 acre space that will combine film, food, literature and curated exhibitions personally selected by the singer under the theme Es Latina.

The shows are scheduled for September 25 through September 27 at the Iberdrola Music venue located in the Villaverde area south of Madrid, according to an announcement made by Live Nation on Friday March 20. The temporary venue is designed to create a fully immersive environment, similar to recent European concert concepts such as Adele’s Munich residency in 2024, which focused on enhancing both production quality and fan experience.

This news arrives shortly after Shakira confirmed she would be bringing her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour to Spain with a specially designed production. “I’m going to go all out because Live Nation is preparing a stadium for these concerts. It will be called Estadio Shakira,” the singer said in a preview clip from her interview on RTVE’s Al Cielo Con Ella released March 15. “It’s going to be something out of this world, a production that I don’t think has been seen before in Spain.”

The announcement also comes following her recent Rock & Roll Hall of Fame nomination.

Since launching on February 11, 2025, Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour has continued through this year and has already made history. According to Billboard Boxscore, the tour became the highest grossing tour ever by a Hispanic artist, earning 421.6 million dollars and selling 3.3 million tickets across 86 concerts.

That success was also reflected in Mexico City, where Shakira set new attendance records at GNP Seguros Stadium with 13 sold out concerts that together sold more than 800,000 tickets. She later closed her time in Mexico with a massive free concert at the Zócalo on March 1 that attracted 400,000 attendees. Tickets for the Madrid residency will become available starting March 27.

Before heading to Spain, Shakira is also scheduled to perform on May 2 at another globally recognized venue, Copacabana Beach in Brazil. Event organizers are expecting a crowd of at least one million people, similar to the massive audiences that gathered for Madonna in 2024 and Lady Gaga in 2025.
